Our TEAM is excited to welcome Tammy Robinson as the new Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba Executive Director. Viola Prowse, who has connected with so many of you over the years, has retired from her position as Executive Director. Viola will remain working with Tammy and the rest of the TEAM for most of the 2015-16 school year. Maxine Meadows, RD and Clara Birnie, RD, our program dietitians, will be leading the site visits, workshops and other program supports. For a listing of our Board Members check out our website.
Program Grants & Agreement Letters
Program Grants are mailed in 2 installments, September and February of each year (Dates may vary for programs starting after September, 2015).
Check your agreement letter to find your grant amount. Our grants are made possible by the generous contribution of our partners**. Funding decisions are made based on existing programming in the school, access to food distributors, program characteristics and community resources. Your grant covers a percentage of total program costs and CNCM is happy to be one of the partners supporting your nutrition program.
** Province of Manitoba and Winnipeg Foundation through the Moffat Family Fund.
Donation from Egg Farmers of Manitoba
Egg Coupons were generously donated by the Egg Farmers of Manitoba and have been included in your 2015-16 grant package. Note they will expire December 31st, 2015. If you have any questions please let us know.
Site Visits
Site Visits are a priority for us. We make every effort to visit programs at least once every 2 years. When possible, we enjoy seeing programs in action. We like to spend time getting to know your program as every program is unique. We are excited to now have 2 dietitians on staff to support programs. Be sure to take full advantage of this time to discuss challenges, goals and successes. Plan on setting aside a minimum of 30 minutes to an hour for a site visit. If your program would like to schedule a site visit with our program dietitians for the 2015-16 school year contact us before October 30th, otherwise we will email you to schedule a visit.
Fact Sheets and Best Practices
Check out our new and improved Fact Sheets and Best Practices webpage. We are creating a complete series of fact sheets intended to help you follow MB’s School Nutrition Guidelines and best practices for nutrition programs. Feel free to email us to tell us what you think!
