Manitoba Home Nutrition and Learning Pilot Program

On June 15th, 2020, the province announced the Home Nutrition and Learning Pilot program as part of the Manitoba Protection Plan, to support Manitobans affected by COVID-19. The pilot, which will launch in 2 community sites in Winnipeg this week and 3 other sites in the province in early July, aims to reach 6,000 students and will run until the end of September in all locations.

Since 2001, the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba has been dedicated to helping school children learn, grow, and succeed by supporting meal and snack programs in Manitoba schools. The registered dietitians from the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba were consulted for their experience and knowledge, to develop the menu and resources for the pilot program.

The Council will continue to work with school divisions and schools across Manitoba during the 2020-21 school year, to ensure students all across the province have access to nutritious foods that support and enhance their learning.
